Kalamazoo Doubles Tournament

A GIANT PICKLEBALL THANK-YOU to all our players and sponsors for making our third Kalamazoo Round Robin Doubles Tournament a success. The Portage YMCA hosted 115 players and volunteers on Thursday and Friday, May 20th and 21st.

Special thanks to The Courthouse for providing T Shirts, to Lee's for donating 2 paddles, to Harrison Pickles for the awesome deli dills. Our food vendors were awesome: Papa John's for Friday's pizza, Meijer for fresh fruit, Dr Pepper/Snapple Group for Sports Drinks, Gordon Water for refreshing filtered water, Biggby Coffee for delicious Regular & Decaf. A huge THANK YOU to Recognition Inc for donating all the medals. Our gratitude to the YMCA-Portage Branch for making the court time available and helping us so much with set-up and tear-down. And finally, a big thank you to all of you who participated, since your entry fees went to support the YMCA's Healthy Kids, Healthy Family programs.

I saw great sportsmanship and exciting on-court action. How about those Drill Instructors? Didn't they do a terrific job on Thursday night? Our Crazy Mixed Up Doubles made it fun and easy to meet new people and we had lots of new folks representing 51 cities in the US and Canada. Our referees, both local and from afar, did a great job on Friday. Our scorekeeper and registration crews kept the tournament running smoothly.

We hope you winners liked your "shades" as well as your Kalamazoo Round Robin medals. Our next tournament is scheduled for September 16-17, 2010. We like to bring you something new each time, so watch the website for further developments!
